How Does the Pump Control Relay Work?

Control relays are electrical switches used to automate the control of electric current so that it doesn’t require constant monitoring to switch the device on and off manually. They are designed in different ways to fit their purpose, and they play a significant role along with the continuous level monitor in devices that are used to control water levels in pumps.

How Do They Operate?

Control relays operate on electromagnetism principles, whereby electric current is used to create a magnetic field that controls the opening or closing of a switch. In this case, a coil is used, which allows the current passing through it to create a magnetic field surrounding the switch nearby.

This switch closes due to the magnetism, completing the circuit when the current passes through the coil, allowing the pump to carry on functioning. When the current in the coil stops flowing, the circuit is broken again. This is used to control and monitor the pump and can be done via AC or DC circuits, depending on the purpose.

What Role Do Control Relays Play in Pumps?

A pump control relay helps control a heavier circuit with a stronger current, which powers the pump using a low-current circuit. It acts as a middle agent between a microcontroller, which produces low current signals, and the pump requires a high current.

This protects the pump’s mechanism from getting disrupted by detecting in time any voltaic imbalances over and under loads of current within the system. Furthermore, pump control relays also help provide signals indicating the pump’s performance status since they are the ones controlling the functioning of the switch.
